About Cathie
I’ve had a long career as a journalist but I’m one you probably haven’t heard of.
That’s because I’ve been behind the scenes leading and working with many journalists you will have heard of, on your television, radio, online or on socials.
My role has been, and still is, to bring out the best in journalists and content makers; to encourage them to strive for excellence and build the skills they need for success. As a leader, I’m very proud of the people I’ve worked with and helped make it to the top of their profession in roles all over the world.
Respect, collaboration, innovation and adaptation have been central to my leadership.
My years of on-the-job mentoring has led me to post-graduate studies in leadership coaching and mentoring, and even as far as the Women’s Leadership Forum at Harvard Business School in Boston.
It’s a long way from the little state school in Thargomindah where I started my quest of life-long learning and storytelling.
I’m currently the Executive Producer of Landline, the ABC’s national rural television program, responsible for its editorial content which is distributed across multiple platforms. I also regularly present on ABC Radio interviewing people ranging from the Prime Minister to those without a roof over their head. I’ve even mastered all the buttons that need pushing for live radio. I believe stretching yourself to learn new skills never hurts.
I’ve recently fulfilled a long-held dream to live in the country and am learning how to raise cows, chickens and guinea fowl while finding new and interesting ways to use surplus pumpkins.
